The Parkside Federation Academies Funk Band

The Parkside Federation Funk Band comprises of musicians from across the Federation (Parkside and Coleridge), aged 12 – 16.   The students meet once a week and enjoy playing a variety of well-known and much-loved hits from the Funk, Soul, RnB and Disco genres.  The band has performed in a variety of professional venues across Cambridge but students are particularly looking forward to their debut performance, alongside some incredible musicians, in the Cambridge Jazz Festival. 

 

As part of the our commitment to supporting and promoting jazz in schools, we are excited that immediately before Dennis Rollins’ gig with CUJO, two of our local schools’ jazz orchestras will be taking the stage to showcase their talents at the Cambridge Jazz Festival.  

 

A chance for young musicians to kick the early evening off with arrangements of everything from standards to funk, and make their mark on a weekend dedicated to the big band sound.

 

Tickets £5 (free for kids), all money raised goes towards sponsoring CJF jazz workshops for young musicians.
