Come and celebrate with us at the final event of the Festival, with the hugely original and entertaining The Brass Funkeys, a 9 piece band playing everything from New Orleans to Hip Hop. Technically gifted and great fun, they are sure to get the party going as we draw the Cambridge Jazz Festival to a riotous close!

Boasting a set up of Sousaphone, Trombones, Trumpets, Saxophones and Percussion, the Brass Funkeys draw from the traditions of New Orleans with skilled musicianship, rolling from spirited second line revelry to soulful jazz funeral marches and brass driven funk.

Reggae, hip hop, gypsy, swing and Latin influences are exposed in an eclectic live show revealing a band bursting at the seams with ideas and infectious energy.

“Wow, these guys were fantastic, hugely entertaining and creative”

Chris Gilvear, JazzFM, Nov ‘14

“The Brass Funkeys played a great mix of traditional marching numbers and funked up covers including the Jungle Book classic ‘I Wanna Be Like You’, and even breaking out an amazing rendition of Rage Against the Machine’s ‘Killing In The Name’. These young lads were obviously having the time of their lives. Ending their set by jumping into the crowd, brass instruments and all 9 strong, marching off out of the tent to ‘When The Saints’, inducing a 500 strong conga around the site.”
