A veteran of the UK jazz scene, Stan Sulzmann has a rich and varied career that has included playing with musicians as diverse as Kenny Wheeler, Larry Grenadier and Gwilym Simcock, as well as a prolific output as bandleader.

Stan is also a highly respected composer and arranger; his vibrant big band arrangements have excited and inspired people for the last 25 years, and in 2013 Stan was commissioned to write an original piece for the London Jazz Festival.

Bedfordshire-born Nikki Iles has progressed into the front rank of British jazz musicians. She began her career in the north of England as a founder member of The Creative Jazz Orchestra and composition continues to be a major part of her musical life. Playing highlights in the last couple of years have included The Julian Arguelles Octet, Kenny Wheeler, Norma Winstone, Karen Sharp and Tina May.

Despite a long-standing musical friendship and frequent collaborations, it has been almost 20 years since Stan Sulzmann and Nikki Iles recorded their first album 'Treasure Trove' together. Their new offering, 'Stardust', celebrates a shared love of songs, as well as featuring an original composition from each, and is due to be released on Jellymould in late 2015. They will be performing at the Festival as a duo and quartet.

‘This intimate recording is a rare chance to hear two of the UK’s most respected jazz musicians playing tunes they love. Jellymould is proud to be releasing this beautiful record.’

Dom Sales, Jellymould Jazz
