Hiatus Kaiyote + support
Cambridge Junction

Every so often a band comes along that captures the collective imagination, a band that has all the essential elements in place to become a musical movement. The music of Grammy-nominated Hiatus Kaiyote strikes the perfect note merging poetry and polyrhythms. They have carved out their own ecosystem populated with songs, each embodying its own mini-cinematic sonic soundscape.

Melbourne, Australia’s ‘future soul’ four piece jazz funk band has had endorsements from Questlove, Erykah Badu, Q-Tip and Prince, when they blew minds with the release of their debut album Tawk Tomahawk, weaving jazz, funk, soul, hip hop, opera and pop.

Their second album ‘Choose Your Weapon’, released this year, is a love letter to the whole of nature and encapsulates the sound and spirit of jazz while still functioning as a pop album.

Support comes from 23-year-old Melbourne artist REMI, one of the fastest-rising Hip Hop acts in Australia and are quickly gaining the attention of international tastemakers. REMI has the ability to whip crowds into a frenzy and their new album ‘Raw X Infinity’ has received numerous awards, nominations and critical acclaim from right across the globe including the highly coveted 2015 Australian Music Prize (equivalent to the UK’s Mercury Music Prize).

Remi Kolawole might just be the artist to prove Australia is more than a one hip-hop wonder. The charismatic 23-year-old MC (he performs as Remi) is one of Australia's hottest properties right now, and that's no hype – Billboard US

Doors open at 7pm, music starts at 7:30pm.
