This session is for people who love to sing.
If you sing in a conventional choir and want to broaden your horizons this workshop is for you. There will be no sheet music everything is learned by ear and will focus on.....

  • Exercises on Rhythm, time, different grooves and feels e.g. gospel, reggae, swing.

  • Circle singing to work on aural skills.

  • Learning songs in harmony by ear.

Andi Hopgood sings with The London Vocal Project one of the UK's leading contemporary vocal ensembles, specialising in jazz and groove music, alongside jazz composer and educator Pete Churchill. She is also musical director of The Cambridge Jazz Festival Choir, Suffolk Soul Singers and Suffolk soul singers youth.

We hope to perform the pieces we learn later that day at Andi’s festival gig with her trio at Hot Numbers (3:00 - 5:30pm).

Andi Hopgood is a suffolk based vocalist with a love of jazz and improvisation. She has been a freelance performer and educator for many years as a vocalist and saxophonist. Andi has released two jazz albums “I Could Be So Happy” and “It Only Takes a moment” with such musicians as Geoff Gascoyne, Graham Harvey, Matt Skelton and Sebaastian De Krom.


Andi graduated from the Guildhall School Of Music And drama in 2005, it was here that she met Martin Hathaway. As a tutor and choral leader Andi is a vocal teacher at Anglia Ruskin, runs the Cambridge Jazz festival choir, Suffolk Soul Singers and Suffolk Soul Singers youth choirs.
