Tim Boniface Plays Gordon At Girton
Tim Boniface - Tenor Sax
Vicki Kenny - Piano
Ed Babar - Bass
Tim Boniface, Cambridge jazz musician and Chaplain at Girton College, plays an intimate set of classics in honour of the great Dexter Gordon in the gorgeously cosy Fellows Drawing Room at Girton. With a collection of numbers drawn from Dexter’s renowned Blue Note albums and his later output on Prestige, Tim will be joined by fellow Cambridge jazz musician Vicki Kenny on piano, and bass player and educator Ed Babar, leader of the Blues and Roots Ensemble, and bassist on Tim’s acclaimed jazz suite recordings The Eight Words and The Infant. Tim brings his powerful and authentic hard-bop sound to this delightfully swinging set dedicated to one of the greatest saxophone voices in jazz.
“Tim’s playing is tuneful, sincere, exciting, and it swings… fine music.” (Brian Case)
