Communal singing is one of the most accessible and uplifting ways to bring people together through music. We are giving you the opportunity to be a part of the Cambridge Jazz Festival in our virtual choir!

The Cambridge Jazz Festival 2020 invite you to be a part of a free live interactive online choir session led by professional singer and musician, Andi Hopgood. Join Andi on Zoom on Saturday 21st November from 3pm to 4:30pm. She will lead you through some voice and rhythm warm ups, then guide you through learning an original song by ear - a technique that Andi uses with our very own Cambridge Jazz Festival Choir.

Together we will learn an uplifting song “You Need Hope”, by renowned jazz educator Pete Churchill. Combining catchy lyrics to an upbeat tune, it inspires confidence in the journey to better times ahead.

The aim of the event is to create a virtual choir recording to be premiered at the closing night of the Jazz Festival.

We would like you to video yourself singing the song on your phone and send it in to us. We will put these videos together with the voices from our own Cambridge Jazz Festival Choir, to create a virtual choir performance!

Please share this with anyone you feel would benefit from the joy and connection of making music together, while apart.

The performance will also include an interview and introduction with Pete Churchill and Andi Hopgood.
