They played their first ever gig at La Raza nine years ago featuring local Cambridge musicians Tiago Coimbra, Paul Stubbs, Daniel Bayliss, Andy Bowie and Ric Byer, performing tunes which Ryan wrote wrote in 2006 while studying at what is now known as the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.  As a direct result from one of these first performances Ryan was asked to arrange his tunes for NYJO. Since then, they have performed in many formats and with a variety of different members.

While living in London the Ryan McCaffrey Sessions Jam Session was born which featured musicians including established names from the UK jazz scene such as Roberto Manzin, Alan Barnes, Nigel Price, Trevor Tomkins and Clark Tracey.  Since then conga player Vincent Salzfaas was added to the lineup and the band became known as Cong-Fusion.

Last year the band released a single called 'Turned Tables' last year which is available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and features MC EMix from Soul II Soul. Three of the members went on the TV Channel London Live and various radio stations such as BBC Radio Berkshire to promote the tune which was written about Ryan’s own experiences of bullying.  Half of the proceeds from the money made from the single are donated to The Songwriting Charity who help children deal with aspects of bullying through the medium of music.

Fitting then that they return again to the venue where they started with some of the original members to open the Cambridge Jazz Festival along with the incredible vocals of Emily Farrar.  The music is a fusion of afro-cuban funk soul and jazz with interesting time changes and grooves.
