Robin Phillips performs the music of one of the most legendary jazz singer/instrumentalists of the 20th Century: jazz beau and bad boy Chet Baker. Vocally, Robin is most often compared with Chet Baker and to bring this music to life he has connected with jazz trumpeter, James Brady whose melodic approach to soloing contributes to performing the songs made famous by Chet, including his own compositions.

The trio will perform songs including Almost Blue, Do It The Hard Way, Let's Get Lost, Look For The Silver Lining, The Thrill is Gone, and You Don't Know What Love Is. There are a few Chet Baker tribute shows around today, but none gets as close to realising Chet's essence as this pairing of two of the UK's most promising jazz talents.

At this special jazz Festival event, we're offering a ticket to include a Cotto dining experience. These bookings will include a two-course menu devised by Chef Hans, whilst dining in the Gonville's Atrium Brasserie, as part of the concert experience. Guests voting for this ticket will also benefit from the best seating for the concert, table service throughout the event, and a glass of Prosecco upon arrival.

The event will also feature author Matthew Ruddick who will read from his book on Chet Baker, Funny Valentine.

Funny Valentine is the definitive biography of the legendary jazz trumpet player and singer, Chet Baker. In the words of the singer, Chris Isaak, who appeared in a documentary about him, 'when a cowboy grows up in Oklahoma and ends up in Rome, he's got to have a story'

Funny Valentine is an intimate and unflinching portrait of Chet Baker, drawing on almost two hundred exclusive interviews with close friends and musicians. It includes a detailed, illustrated discography, helping readers to navigate the extensive catalogue he left behind.
