Cambridge International Jazz Festival have teamed up with Cambridgeshire Music and Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) to form Cambridgeshire Youth Jazz Orchestra (CYJO).

Cambridgeshire Youth Jazz Orchestra (CYJO) Weekend Course
Sat 22nd – Sun 23rd June
10 – 4 each day
Anglia Ruskin University and final performance at Jazz and Brass at the Park (Jesus Green)

CYJO course 1: The Essence of Swing - All abilities welcome!
Musicians will be split into CYJO main band and CYJO feeder band depending on experience. These bands will work separately and together under the guidance of Josh Kemp (wind) and Vij Prakash (brass) to explore jazz and improvised ensemble music through swing and groove music.
This project will culminate in CYJO’s first public performance and the Jazz and Brass in the Park series (Cambridge Live) on Jesus Green.

Sun: Festival Performance at We Out Here Festival (Abbots Ripton)
CYJO course 2: We Out Here Festival Weekender
CYJO members will have the incredible opportunity to perform at and attend the UK’s most exciting
new jazz festivals – We Out Here Festival.
There will be a full day of rehearsing on the Saturday in Cambridge and then the performance at the festival on the Sunday. All students will receive free tickets to experience the festival on the day of their performanceand there will be discounted tickets available for parents to join them.

CYJO course 3: Cambridge Jazz Festival Weekender
CYJO members will have the opportunity to perform at and attend the Cambridge Jazz Festival in November 2019. Dates and location to be confirmed soon.
