“When she told me earlier that she did not see any difference between jazz and Arabic music, it sounded a stretch; here, for a moment, the two spin together so fast they sound like one.“ David Honigmann, Financial Times
"Reem Kelani's voice will make the hairs on your neck stand up."
Pete Martin, Jazz UK
(Bruno Heinen’s) “skill on the keys deftly slips from classical jazz to Middle Eastern-inspired minor chords to 15th century troubadour”.
Thomas Petrie, Works In Progress, Olympia, Washington
Reem Kalani returns to St Pauls with Bruno Heinen for a night of musical adventure and community spirit, as part of Cambridge International Jazz Festival.

The Palestinian singer, musicologist and broadcaster was born in England, brought up in Kuwait and now lives in London. Working in the Diaspora, Reem has introduced countless non-Arab musicians to Arabic and Palestinian music, and she has pioneered the presentation of Arabic music using Jazz techniques. Reem is bi-lingual and bi-cultural, appealing equally to Arab and non-Arab audiences.
She has performed with her band in festivals from Seattle to Shanghai and Syria, and as a soloist in Sir Karl Jenkins’ Stabat Mater at the Royal Albert Hall and in Orlando Gough's "Stemmer", alongside the Bergen Philharmonic and a 250-strong choir.
Reem will be accompanied by the brilliant and brilliantly versatile Bruno Heinen on piano. He was recently appointed Professor of Jazz piano and Composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music, London. He has been working with Reem for the past decade.
This concert is presented in association with Cambridge Palestine Solidarity Campaign and Cambridge University Palestine Society.
