The 2017 Jazz FM ‘Live Experience of the Year’ Award-winner presents his interpretation of Van Morrison’s album Astral Weeks to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of its release.

With its magical combination of jazz, folk and soul influences, Astral Weeks is widely regarded as one of the most influential recordings of 20th-century contemporary music.

Now, five decades after its release, leading UK vibes player and multi-instrumentalist Orphy Robinson brings together some of the UK’s top jazz players, including Tony Remy, to reinterpret the transcendental arrangements of Astral Weeks.

The ensemble is joined by vocalist Sarah Jane Morris, who’s best known for her work with The Communards on songs like Don’t Leave Me This Way.

Building on his award-winning tribute to Bobby Hutcherson and his role as Musical Director and Producer for Carleen Anderson’s Cage Street Memorial album and tour, this is Robinson's most ambitious project yet.
