If you haven't yet heard the tall tale of Henri DuBois - the raconteur who might just have invented jazz, then this is your chance!

A Waltz in New Orleans is a new one act play which received its off-West End premier during Black History Month at The Cockpit Theatre on Tuesday 12th October 2021. A one man show accompanied by a live band it is the yarn of the greatest jazz musician you've never heard of narrated by the braggadocious drummer here to convince you that he invented jazz.

The debut play from writer, producer and drummer in the play Lucas Keen, A Waltz in New Orleans began life as a radio drama written and aired during the lockdown of 2020 and was developed in 2021 with the support of The Arts Council’s Developing Your Creative Practice fund.

Lucas Keen: `I wanted to bring the musician so often in the shadows (the drummer) to the forefront to tell the story of how jazz was born at the turn of the century in New Orleans and to honour and celebrate Black excellence.’
