THE PHIL MEADOWS PROJECT continues the journey for Meadows’ multi-award winning music. Recognised as one of the UK’s most distinctive, create and talented young musicians his music is inspired by global sounds – combining jazz elements with classical, hip-hop, electronica, contemporary music and more.

Meadows’ unparalleled sound world has led to successes including two critically acclaimed albums; two Parliamentary Jazz Awards, a London Music Award and the prestigious Peter Whittingham Jazz Award. Meadows has also been a finalist in the 2017 B-Jazz Interntional Contest, 2014 Worhipful Company of Musicians Jazz Prize and the 2010 European Keep an Eye Award. His music has been featured heavily across BBC Radio 2, Radio 3 and playlisted on JazzFM and at just 27 years of age he has already shared international stages with Matthew Herbert, Phronesis, Ingrid Jensen and Femi Temowo.

His new project showcases an important wave of British talent ahead of recording a third album of original material. Exploring new musical relationships and fresh influences you’ll hear soaring melodies, atmospheric soundscapes and head-nodding grooves as Meadows’ new sounds tip influence towards the music of Go-Go Penguin, Donny McCaslin, Tigran, Bill Laurance, Portico Quartet and more.

Boundary-pushing jazz. Haunting light and sound installation. An exclusive early look at a Cambridge icon. For the first time ever, Cam Lates joins forces with the Cambridge Jazz Festival at the Museum of Zoology.

Ever wanted to experience live contemporary jazz in the company of a giant whale skeleton? Now’s your chance. Cambridge Jazz Festival presents boundary-pushing performances from exciting London bands Entropi and Phil Meadows Project beneath the Museum of Zoology’s 70ft long finback whale skeleton.

Be among the first to experience the Museum’s brand new Whale Hall before it opens to the public. As the bands play the space will be filled by ‘Whailes’, an interactive light and sound installation by local sound artist William Crosby and Brighton-based projection/light artist Oliver Bolland.

Explore the haunting world of whalesong and the human impact on the oceans in the interval, when

William performs original, surround-sound electronic music created by sonifying ocean data collected in the last four years while the Museum has been closed.
