Marie and the Boys were formed in 2014 by three students at Churchill College, playing bass (Joe Westwood), piano (Oscar Wilkins) and drums (Jake Lewis). It has since grown both in its range of musical styles and in members, and now comprises of a trumpeter (Ed Liebrecht), a synth player (Tommy Gale) and a guitarist (Omar Ali – though he’s currently teaching kids in Tanzania...). Despite ostensibly being a jazz band, their distinctive sound shows clear influences of rock and modern electronic music, and features original compositions with creative improvisation from all of the members. Marie and the Boys released their debut album in 2016 and it is available on Spotify and iTunes:
