Cambridge Jazz Festival are proud to welcome award winning composer and saxophonist, Emma Rawicz as Artist in Residence.

Young rising star saxophonist Emma Rawicz has recently turned her formidable talents to the world of big band and for this special show joins forces with the renowned Cambridge University Jazz Orchestra.  Composition has always been a core part of Emma’s identity, and she now showcases her distinctive writing within the big band setting.

Expect to hear captivating, electrifying arrangements of Emma’s music, ranging from edgy, up tempo originals through joyful Afro-Cuban inspired grooves to moving ballads, as well as the premier of a new composition commissioned by Cambridge Jazz Festival.  Emma will not be putting the sax down for this gig though, and will feature as a soloist as well as directing the band.

itself on being a fully student-led ensemble that strives to bring underrated and unique styles of big band music to a public audience. CUJO’s collaboration with Emma Rawicz will be its most ambitious project yet, featuring a set list built almost entirely from Emma’s portfolio of cutting-edge big band compositions. CUJO is honoured to share the stage with such a forward-thinking artist, and looks forward to showcasing an evening of unprecedented music.
